About

My name is Rebecca and I became a proud owner of a 2015 Nissan LEAF in the fall of 2014, to facilitate my daily commute from Vancouver to my workplace in Chilliwack (100 km each way). I’m an Environmental Health Scientist, primarily working in air quality/climate change planning and policy, striving to reduce emissions which harm human health and the environment. Because of my line of work, and personal belief in the importance of ‘walking the talk’ it was very important for me to commute by non-polluting means. Previously, I was an avid cycle commuter, logging about 5000 km/year, and I still bike around town as much as I can, and do some big rides too.

My 100% electric Nissan LEAF is the first car I’ve ever owned. It’s a 2015 Nissan LEAF S, with a charge package (an option on US cars, meaning it has a quick-charge port and 6.6 kW charger).

I love the outdoors, exploring, and pushing my LEAF to new limits. My intention with this blog is to showcase the capabilities and benefits of an affordable electric vehicle, with the hope of demonstrating to others how an electric vehicle might fit into their life.
